Brain-teasing is a popular past time, it’s a wonder why so many people opt for applying pressure on their brain over partaking in a bit of mindless fun, such as Angry Birds. It wasn’t until I downloaded Mental Math that realized the flaw in my aforementioned argument.
“Damn it! I used to be good at this!”.
Mental Math is a simple arithmetic brain-teaser which challenges your brain in short bursts – 60 seconds to be precise. Choose from 5 different scenarios (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication or a combination) and then set your skill level. You are then tasked with answering as many sums as possible within the 60 second period, the more you get right, the higher you place on the leader board.
“Why am I so dumb!?”.
Mental Math puts you through your paces and I challenge anyone to get 20 or more on the hardest skill level. The developer has recently added a new challenge, ‘The Number Plate Game”. Contrary to what I first thought, this does not involve cars. Rather, you are given a set of numbers to use (divide, subtract, add together) with the aim of achieving the headline number. My math isn’t all that great, so I haven’t nailed this one yet.
Mental Math is going to be my ‘go to’ teaser from now on, simply because it has highlighted how rubbish my math has become since playing mindless Android games on repeat. I will thank the developer for highlighting this at a timely stage in my life, just as things start getting serious (kid on the way!).
Anyway check out the app (no cost, no ads) and be sure to let me know what score you get. Free (virtual) drink for anyone who achieves more than 30pts on any of the hardest levels!
